It was five years ago when I was in high school that I began to wear eyeglasses. From then on the stories between us took place.

My first pair of eyeglasses is a blue one which cost me eighty Yuan not so expensive compared with others. For some reasons the eyeglasses were not comfortable for me, so I didn’t wear it except during the class, most of the time it was in the spectacles case enjoying the loneliness. One day during the interval between classes, my classmate in the same table with me looked carefully at my glasses seeming to have found something great which made me think of Columbus, who discovered America. Then he spoke to me with a mysterious expression. “I think the pair of eyeglasses is not suitable for you!” “Why?” I asked, “How stupid you are! You didn’t find it too small!” he murmured. So I took out a mirror to make a study of the eyeglasses. Suddenly I let out a shout “oh yes, now I know why I don’t like the eyeglasses!” which startled others. Naturally, my first eyeglasses were out of commission after one year’s service for me.

My second pair of eyeglasses came to its service. It had a silvery frame with two big lenses. The doctor told me that it requires constant maintenance as it was high quality finished prescription eyeglasses. The moment I put on it, I can’t believe my eyes! I could see so far and so clearly! You may have guessed it, I was really happy. The doctor advised me to wash it with clean water and dry it up with soft materials such as soft cloth, facial tissues. I thanked the doctor and left happily as if a great mission had been finished. But I paid a high price for it, two hundred Yuan about my two month’s living expenses. With the golden sword, I wouldn’t worry about missing what the teacher wrote on the blackboard. Indeed, the eyeglass ever made a great contribution to me before its life came to the end. It accompanied me living through the hardest days of my school life and experienced one of the most important exams – college entrance examinations. You have to admit that everything in the world has its life limit, and my second pair of eyeglasses isn’t an exception. In my sophomore days I decided to replace it with a new one because of its aging.

It was in the Hospital of Southeast University that my third pair of eyeglasses came to birth. The doctor there had a more sophisticated equipment that helped me select a pair of eyeglasses matching with my sight well. Compared with its two pioneers, it’s a little slight making it comfortable somehow. But, it has a fatal defect that the frame is so slender that it changes shape easily and I have to correct it frequently. There was once a time when I decided to abandon it, but I didn’t for the economic reason .now it is still in its service and I have become used to it despite of the defect. No matter what to say, it has been part of my life and a good friend of mine.

Things changes .I didn’t take care of my glasses very well, and it was frayed, with mirror bracket broken .It was a very old thing, I thought, I even used it with two arms of it broken .So I bought a second one .I began to meter my size and I chose nearly suitable glasses .It were black ones, and when I firstly put on them, my friends thought them were weird, so I only put them on only when classes began. I did not know if my behavior would hurt my eyes, but I really did it in that way.

Then in college ,I had my third one ,It was a little expensive ,but I thought if I bought a cheap one ,it became old very quickly .one day ,in an accident ,I broke one side of it, I got a little afraid that I thought it if will make me look ugly .But I am still wearing it. Now I can not leave my eye glasses because if I leave my glasses ,I will not see clearly .I thing if I take off my glasses for a day ,I will get crazy. Let’s look around, many people are wearing glasses, and even some of them wore glasses when they are very young .Our society can not leave glasses. With glasses, many of us could get rid of the painful weak sight. What’s more glasses nurture great men in history, I think .They won’t have limited sight and read more books, know more, deal with routines more fluently. Glasses contribute to our world.

My father smelled out my mad mind and only gave me a small box on my birthday. I could not help myself opening it——there were only one smaller box and a piece of paper. I picked the paper up with all words on it:

My dear daughter:
I should apologize first for I didn’t pay much attention to your eyesight and lead you wear glasses just like me.
I know you threw your glasses away 2 weeks ago. But I didn’t prevent you to do so. All I want is to let you know that it’s not a bad choice to wear glasses. You know, as we are shortsighted, we need to wear glasses so as to correct visual acuity. I wonder how you felt without your “stupid” glasses during the 2 weeks. I think you have learned well.

My sweet girl, next I’d like to tell you a story of myself. When I was a teenager, I was shy and introverted. I was even afraid of talking to girls. When I found myself a little shortsighted, I wore a pair of glasses without hesitation. You may believe how stupid I was. To my surprise, I looked smarter than before. And some girls even admired me because I was just like a gentleman when I wore the glasses. Above all, till now, my eyesight hasn’t changed for so many years! I really want to say that: Thanks to my glasses!
So my little girl, don’t throw your “stupid” glasses away and pick them up! You will be a wonderful girl! And last but not least, happy birthday to you!

I could not say any word at that moment when I read the letter. Then I opened the boxed and just saw a new pair of glasses! I had never seen such a beautiful pair of glasses! I wore them and looked at myself in the mirror. Words fell me to describe the feeling when I saw myself. I had to say that my father’s words hit my heart. And I did need to change myself. Until now, I still have being wearing the glasses which I got on my birthday. On top of it, my eyesight hasn’t changed so far. I’d like to say, I love my glasses forever!

But why do all good things come to an end so fast? An incident as well as an atom bomb ruined all my happiness.

One day I had a basketball match around and she sat on the ground, cheering for me. All of a sudden, there was a ball hit her sharply. I couldn’t believe what I have seen – she broke into several parts and passed away in my hands. I could not help bursting into tears in no time. Two-year’s time with her flashed in my mind as if a romantic movie was projected on the screen, though there was no happy ending in it.

Only when we lost our beloved, did we realize that how deeply we have loved on it. I have found myself missing her so much although she has left me and never make it back.

Recently I have made a new “girlfriend”. She has long, thin legs as my “ex-girlfriend’s. I know life should go on and I must face the truth to go forward. You’ve got to put your past behind you before you can move on.

I have learnt to cherish every second and shoulder my responsibility to protect her in the critical time.

That’s my story of my glasses and I.

I wore a pair of glasses when I was only a little boy because there was something wrong with my eyes congenitally. However, naïve and childish, at that time rather than feeling any unfair or inferior to peers, I just found it special to wear glasses. Everybody around in my class was curious about me as I was the only one having eyeglasses. Furthermore, most of us somehow believed that only intelligent ones wore glasses, so I took it for granted that I was the cleverest boy among all my classmates. Usually thinking that I performed better than anyone else (though wearing eyeglasses did not affect my actual performance); it was really a pleasure for me to wear my glasses.

Year in year out, later I started to study in secondary school. With more and more eyeglasses appearing in class, my superiority gradually faded. Instead, with growth of age, I just felt more and more annoyed with my glasses. Owing to my vision getting worse and worse, I had to change my glasses more and more frequently in order to see the blackboard ahead clearly. With widespread use of plastic in lenses, the glasses of mine got damaged more easily due to casual touch or just long-term washing. And when it came to doing intensive sports, things were getting even worse. Stricken heavily by others, knocked far away off my nose or just crashed into pieces directly by a ball, in short, glasses had completely became a burden which I couldn’t get rid of. And I, for the first time, felt a little bit inferior to those with good eyesight.

Nowadays, as an undergraduate, I can see almost everyone wearing a pair of glasses in my class, in the library, on sports courts, and anywhere around the college. Eyeglasses have become a new kind of organ, which are so familiar and common that they are often neglected in our daily life. Compared with the old days, today there are numerous kinds of eyeglasses available on the market, and people want them not just for function but also fashion. However, as for me, those traditional ones which meet my standards of safety and durability are still my preference, because it is they that can always remind me of my past joy and pain.

Our attitude to life is always changing, just like our feeling toward eyeglasses. You may get really happy assuming that you have performed better when wearing special glasses, but you may also complain a lot when you have to buy a new pair due to another big smash on the playground. All in all, you cannot expect too much from life and the only thing you can do is just accept the coming reality, whether fair or not. This is what I learn from eyeglasses. I still remember clearly that a wind of sorrow attacked me

The moment I was informed of the news that I had gotten nearsighted. As a result, I was “armed “with a pair of glasses at the doctor’s suggestion .As soon as I wearied them for the first time did I see everything around me clearly, and I suddenly saw the light and began to feel relieved. From then on, glasses have been an essential part of my life.

I often imagine my glasses as friends and we are inseparable as body and shadow. In addition, they also act as loyal friends being around me and remedying my visual defect.” The quickest way to receive is to give; this saying applies to glasses as well. If you want to enjoy a clear visual field, you must clear your glasses regularly to keep them clean. Likewise, if you desire for kindness of others, you should not be cheap on your own kindness. When I see the world clearly and read smoothly, I cannot express my thanks for the thoughtful kindness of my glasses.

Furthermore, life has told me that growth is also a pair of glasses that enable us to see what we cannot see in the childhood. The glasses named growth let me realize many things, such as my parents’ profound love for me, the responsibility I should take for my family and myself, the efforts I should make to afford an ideal life for my parents and so on. Understanding these things deeply, I have become more determined, more brave and stronger. With the special “contact lens”, I will always bear in mind where my direction lies and move on bravely.

After that, we should make a pair of eyeglasses for our hearts in order to see the shortcomings of ourselves and realize what we are pursuing. And then we can try to perfect ourselves and realize self-value of life in the end.

Glasses bring me a clear view and remedy my visual defect, growth gives me a better understanding of life and encourages me to move on and the glasses in my heart let me get acquainted with myself, guiding me to the right direction.

Thanks to the three pairs of glasses, I have access to a clear world, a right direction and a clear understanding of myself. I cannot thank you enough, my three pairs of glasses!

Frankly speaking, glasses have no fate with me at the moment. Because I’m now a 19 years old fresher with no eye sight problems. When I see people around me wearing glasses I will think about the feeling with it. What is it like? Is it just like a mirror between your eyes and the world? You can see the world clearly though the magic stuff. But for me it’s strange. If there must be one thing that helps me look though the world, the only answer could be “faith”.

A life without faith can’t be imagined. For faith is the guide of my life. It’s like a philosopher standing on a highland in front of me telling me which path to go and letting me see the destination clearly. Faith for a losing soul just like glasses for a people who has short sight problem. It shows you the goal to fight for and encourages you to ignore the obstacle in your way to the success. On the contrary, without faith you will be stumbled by a very tiny rock and then maybe you will stop your steps or drop into the wrong way.

Though I don’t know the feeling with glasses in front of my eyes but I can feel the faith in my heart. I think they can bring us same feelings, the confidence and the ease. With eyeglasses you can bravely make your steps, and with faith you can bravely fight for your future. You know exactly what to do and how to deal with it. You will never be afraid of things unknown around the corner because you can see clearly the destination you want to reach. It is the source for the power of going ahead.

Maybe I don’t have to experience the feeling of wearing glasses; many people envy me for this reason. Being free from glasses really makes me feel lucky. But I also have a pair of glasses for my heart—-faith which I hope everyone can prepare one for themselves.

Prepare two pairs of glasses, one for you to see the world clearly, and the other one for you to make your way to the success smooth whose name is faith.

Glasses have accompanied me since my childhood. My eyesight became poor when I was about ten years old. Not because I was shortsighted but because of a strange eye disease-“amblyopic” in the professional term. Although I began wearing glasses to correct faulty vision, it had no obvious improvement in my sight. In addition, I need to cover my good eye with a black cloth on the eyeglass in order to use the weak eye more. It made me look like a one-eyed person or a pirate. I was a little girl then and I thought it was so weird and ugly. So I often took off the cloth from my glasses when in school.

Well, this was the story about how I missed the best chance to free myself from glasses. With my growing up, the healthy eye became shortsighted. The only good point is that I didn’t need to be a pirate any more. On the other hand, increasing number of my classmates around wearied glasses and I was just ordinary one of that group.
Even though so many students’ having glasses is not a nice phenomenon, I was still happy because I was not one of the only several special students who wore glasses in class.

Buying a new pair of glasses always means a turning point to me. From primary school to middle school, from high school to the university, with my eyesight degree increasing and the rim getting old, some glasses have become a past. There is one exception. I lost it in an art classroom and was not eager to search for it because of the reason that I didn’t like this pair. Therefore I had a new one soon and didn’t see the gold-rimmed glasses again.

The change of glasses can influence one’s appearance a lot and the personality can be mirrored from the shape and color of one’s glasses in a way. As for myself, I like light purple rim for it looks quiet and sweet.

As the development of society, glasses are not just the symbol of the intellectual, but also a simple way to show yourself and a reflection of your style.

When I eat something hot, a layer of vapor covers my glasses and I can see nothing; when I sweat heavily, they slip down a little from my nose. Glasses are really an extra burden and causes embarrassment occasionally, but after all, I need them and they give me much more help than trouble. They attend almost every important moment in my life. Numerous exams including College Entrance Examination; breathtaking scenery all the way; significant events happened to me…And most beautiful thing is that I see my loved people through glasses in a clear perspective.
